ASPEN ACRES BOER GOATS

Specializing in Purebred, Percentage and Commercial Breeding Stock and Meat Stock

Welcome to the home of Aspen Acres Boer Goats!

We started our farm in the fall of 2004 in Edgerton, AB with the purchase of one goat from SLF Ranch.  He was a young, stocky commercial Boer buck kid by the name of Baxter.  Of course Baxter couldn’t live alone and needed a few girlfriends.  As every producer knows, goats are addictive and as of 2009 Baxter is living with about 70 other goats!

We relocated in 2008 to an 80 acre farm near Busby, AB approximately 45 minutes northwest of Edmonton.  Here we are better able to raise our herd on a more abundant lush pasture to keep producing fast growing stocky kids.  With both of us working full time off farm we are dedicated to raising healthy, hardy animals that don’t require a lot of extra hands on time.

Neil is currently very busy working for the Canadian Military while Stacy is a licensed Animal Health Technologist with an ever growing interest in goat medicine.

Whether you are new in the industry and just have a few questions or you are looking for some quality breeding stock please feel free to contact us.  We look forward to hearing from you.

                                                    Thank-you,

News and Updates for 2010!

Welcome to our new website!

Some people have had some problems viewing all of the pages on our website.  Let me know if you are having any issues.

Kidding went well this year with 49 does producing 100 kids.  We finished kidding in June and weaned on August 28/10.  We ended up with 50 doelings and 50 bucklings.  They will be ready to go by mid-September.  If you have an interest in any kids for 2010 we are taking orders now!  More info on our ‘For Sale’ page.

We currently have an assortment of bucks for sale.  You can view most of these bucks on our for sale page.  If you would like more info or updated photos on any of these guys please let us know.  Many of these were going to be shown at the Smith/Hondo show in Smith, AB during the September long weekend.  Unfortunately, there were not enough participants and the show had to be cancelled.  Maybe we can all plan to attend for next September?  As well we were hoping to attend the  Canadian Western Agribition in November in Regina, SK.  This would have been our first showing at the Agribition and we were looking forward to meeting the producers from the Saskatchewan area.   However, we are not able to make it for this year.  Hopefully in 2011!

UpdateWe are currently sold out of mature bucks!  We are in the process of selecting some good quality purebred and commercial buck kids from our June 2010 kidding to hold back as breeding stock.  These bucks are available for sale.  What isn’t sold this year will be held over and ready for breeding next year.  There are still several good quality doelings left but they have been going fast.  We are already taking orders for next years’ kidding so if you’re looking for something in particular let us know soon!

Thank you to everyone that purchased stock from us in 2010 and also many thanks to the other breeders that referred our farm.
